Our Upcoming Training Trip to Afghanistan

Afghanistan Water Polo has been in existence for over six years now.  A lot has been accomplished during this time, from teaching players how to play the game for the first time to having continuous training throughout the year, and the program continues to grow!

In January (2015), Scott Caruso, Bill Richardson, and I will head to Afghanistan to train the Afghanistan National Water Polo Team and local players in Kabul, Afghanistan.  This will be Scott’s third time with the team and Bill’s first time meeting the team.  It will be an interesting trip for everyone as this will be our longest training event in Afghanistan since 2011.  We will be there for 30 days training the team!

One month may not seem like a lot but everything we can teach them in those 30 days, the team can use to continue to build themselves to the next level.  So every time we go to train the team, we can continue to raise their level of training and their abilities to complete at the next level!

I am looking forward to seeing the team, meeting new players, seeing old players who were on the team long ago, and supporters who have been supporting the team since 2008 and today!  I am also looking forward to the players learning new things, seeing their enjoyment playing the game, and seeing their progression through the training.  Seeing the newly build pools in Kabul will be exciting as well as these new facilities will contribute to the success of aquatic sports in Afghanistan.

These are the heroes of Afghanistan that will be there for the youth to look up to and for the country to cherish.  I hope that we will train the players, the team, and create heroes for a country that so desperately needs them!
